What if we lived in a world where people were true to themselves? In a world were everyone was so focused on living out their purpose they didn’t have time to judge or hate on the next person. I can only imagine the creativity and innovations that would arise from this world. It is my belief that when God created man, this is how we wanted the world. Everyone striving to be true to themselves and focusing on understanding their purpose in the world. Unfortunately so many of us bury who we truly are to live how we think others want us want us be.
Today I’m striving to not only be true to myself, but to make others feel comfortable enough to be themselves around me. That means I have to practice doing the following:
1. Let go of shame: Shame is a disease that will eat at you. It forces a tumor of guilt that grows inside you and stops you from moving forward. We are human we make mistakes, pick yourself up, wipe yourself off, shake it off, and let it go.
2. Let go of judgement:What I’ve learned about judging is its based off insecurities, shortcomings, and shame. Judgement has nothing to do with the other person but everything to do with yourself. Before you judge someone ask yourself what is it about them that’s making me uncomfortable.
3. Let go of hate: Start to find reasons to love yourself instead of holding on to everything you hate about yourself. Find ways to understand God’s love for you. Understanding God’s love for you helps you to know you are good and love because God does not move in evil nor hate. Once you learn to let go of hate and hold on to love you have no other choice but to learn to love and accept who you are, why you are, and how you are. This pushes you to love others for who they are, where they are, and what they are.
4. Let go of the need to fit in! It’s time to find new friends if the only way you can be in your circle is if you speak, walk, and think like your circle. You can’t and won’t grow around people who only want you to be like them. Find people who are going to love you for you. This may mean your circle will get smaller or you might find yourself in a whole new circle, but at the end of the day it’s ok because you get to be around people who love you. We all know you need love to grow.
Peace, love, and joy!
